Index series A-Z
In May 2005, FTSE Group enhanced its coverage of the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) by updating and renaming the existing index, and launching two new tradable indices for the market. The series has been renamed as the FTSE AIM Index Series, and comprises two new large cap indices, and the re-launched FTSE AIM Index. In May 2006, FTSE Group together with the London Stock Exchange added the FTSE AIM All-Share Supersector Indices to the existing series:
This is the first time the AIM market has had a set of indices constructed using FTSE's world-class liquidity and free float methodologies. The enhanced methodology for the benchmark FTSE AIM All-Share will ensure that it provides an accurate representation of the investment opportunity. The new tradable indices segment the market in a new way and have been designed to be used as the basis for a wide variety of index-linked products. The new sector indices can be used for identifying macroeconomic opportunities for investment and trading decisions. It is the first time that the AIM market has ever benefited from sector-based provision making it easy to differentiate between the performance of official list and AIM companies in a given supersector.
