FTSE CNBC Index Series RT

The FTSE CNBC Index Series is calculated by FTSE Group and will be featured in various CNBC news programmes, giving investors greater context to global and Asia Pacific business stories of the day via one quantifiable measure.

The series comprises of the FTSE CNBC Global 300 Index Series and supersector indices which represents broad market performance world-wide across all industries, developed and emerging markets.

On 11 January 2010, the series was enhanced to include the FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index tracks the performance of the largest companies in Asia Pacific, driven by the shift in global focus towards Asia.

FTSE CNBC Global 300 Index

The index will maintain a fixed number of constituents, which are derived from the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (incorporating developed and emerging markets) and comprises the largest 15 stocks by full market capitalisation from each of the 18 Industry Classification Benchmark Supersectors (using FTSE All Cap Developed Index), as well as the 30 largest stocks from the emerging markets (using FTSE Emerging All Cap Index).

FTSE CNBC Global 300 Supersector Indices

The FTSE CNBC Global 300 Index Series was enhanced by the addition of 18 sector indices based on the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB) supersector classification. The FTSE CNBC Global 300 Supersector Indices comprise the largest 15 companies by full market capitalisation from each of the 18 ICB Supersectors, plus the 30 largest companies from emerging markets. Only constituents that are in the FTSE CNBC Global 300 Index are eligible for the FTSE CNBC Global 300 Supersectors Indices.

FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index

The FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index is a broad based index derived from the FTSE Asia Pacific Index and will maintain a fixed number of constituents tracking the performance of the largest companies in Asia Pacific from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. In addition to the FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index, country indices and 10 industry indices based on ICB industry classification are available to enable users to determine key drivers of the index performance.

FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Country Indices

These indices comprise of all the companies in a particular country of the FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index. A total of 14 country indices will be available covering Asia Pacific from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Industry Indices

These indices are based on ICB, the globally accepted standard for sector classification. The indices comprise of all the companies in a particular ICB Industry of the FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index. A total of 10 industry indices will be available including Oil & Gas, Basic Materials, Industrials, Consumer Goods, Health Care, Consumer Services, Telecommunications, Utilities, Financials and Technology.
