The FTSE UK Commercial Property Index Series is designed to track the UK commercial property market. The indices provide investors with a definitive daily measure of the performance of investable, institutional grade commercial property diversified across the UK. The indices are derived from the values of the index constituents that are available for purchase in the market and are carefully chosen through a top down process to represent the “investable” market.
The headline FTSE UK All Property Index has three additional sector indices, giving investors the opportunity to look more closely at the daily performance data in the retail, office and industrial sectors of the UK commercial property market.
The index series is driven by the returns of a pool of UK property assets. Net Asset Values and Accrued Income figures that make up each index calculation, are taken from this range of assets to drive the returns of the index series. In total there is circa £60 billion (as at 31st December 2011) of prime, UK, institutional retail, office and industrial assets that feeds into the index. Each index provides capital value and total returns performance data driven by the performance of the underlying property assets.
