



The BBC Global 30 Index is designed to represent the performance of a simple, highly diversified selection of global stocks. Created by FTSE Group, the index is used by the BBC to provide an indicator of global equity trends to its viewers, listeners and web users.
This tradable index was given a starting value of 5000 at its inception in September 2004. It is calculated in real-time and published in Sterling. It comprises of ten companies selected from each of the following three regional indices within the FTSE Global Equity Index Series universe:
The ten companies selected are the largest company by full market capitalisation from each of the ten FTSE / Dow Jones Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB) Industries within the three regional indices. The industry groups are as follows:
