FTSE Group and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) have joined forces to create the FTSE SET Index Series, designed to provide investors with a comprehensive new suite of indices to enable easier measurement of the major capital segments in Thailand’s market.
All companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand Main Board are eligible for inclusion, subject to passing the FTSE international standards applied to each index - liquidity, investability and free float adjustment. Free float, which has been introduced to this market for the first time, reflects the actual availability of stock in the market for public investment.
The FTSE SET Index Series covers all stock sizes within the market, dividing it into Large, Mid, Small and Fledgling according to market capitalisation, allowing greater flexibility to measure and invest in these distinct segments. The new headline FTSE SET Large Cap Index represents the performance of the top 30 Thai companies by market capitalisation, providing investors with a credible alternative market benchmark that is highly liquid and more focused.
The indices can be used as the basis for trading and benchmarking of financial products, such as institutional and retail funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), derivatives contracts and other financial products.
The family includes:
comprising the largest 30 companies by full market capitalisation that meet stated eligibility requirements
companies within the top 90% of the SET Universe by full market capitalisation, that meet the stated eligibility requirements but are not constituents of the FTSE SET Large Cap Index
companies within the top 98% of the SET Universe by full market capitalisation, that meet the stated eligibility requirements but are not constituents of the FTSE SET Large Cap Index or FTSE SET Mid Cap Index
comprising all companies in the FTSE SET Large Cap Index, the FTSE SET Mid Cap Index and the FTSE SET Small Cap Index
comprising all companies in the FTSE SET Mid Cap Index and the FTSE SET Small Cap Index
comprising all companies listed on the SET Universe that are too small to be in the FTSE SET All-Share Index
