FTSE Environmental Markets Index Series
One of the latest areas in which FTSE has been developing its capabilities is environmental technology, helping to promote much-needed investment within this space. This index series comprises of global companies in two phases. Environmental Technology relates to those whose core business is in the development and deployment of environmental technologies, such as alternative energy, water treatment, pollution control and waste management. Environmental Opportunities refers to those companies that are beginning to adapt their business models towards a growing low carbon economy and have some involvement in environmental business activities.
FTSE Group was also the first global index company to sign the UNEP FI "Principles for Responsible Investment", in 2006, an initiative launched by Kofi Annan, the UN Secretary General. This underlines the company's commitment to promoting responsible investment and providing tools for investors in this area.
