Cable & Wireless PLC (UK): Demerger of Cable & Wireless Worldwide PLC
Treatment In FTSE Indices

2 March 2010


In accordance with the proposed demerger of Cable & Wireless Worldwide PLC from Cable & Wireless PLC (UK), the following timetable is expected to be followed for processing the changes to FTSE indices:

Friday 19 March 2010 (after close)

Name change: Cable & Wireless PLC to Cable & Wireless Communications PLC (i.e. effective start of trading Monday 22 March 2010) – no index divisor changes.

Thursday 25 March 2010 (after close)

FTSE will determine the market capitalisation of Cable & Wireless Worldwide PLC based on the closing market capitalisation of Cable & Wireless Communications PLC.

Cable & Wireless Worldwide PLC will be added to the FTSE 100 as per FTSE ground rule 7.2.4 - no index divisor changes.

Friday 26 March 2010 (from start of trading)

Cable & Wireless Communications PLC shares trade ex entitlement to the demerger.

Cable & Wireless Worldwide PLC commences trading.

Please note: There will be 101 companies in the FTSE 100. Friday 26 March 2010 (after close)

FTSE will issue a notice detailing the index changes resulting from the demerger (using prices as at close).

Tuesday 30 March 2010 (from start of trading)

All index changes as detailed in the 26 March 2010 FTSE notice become effective (i.e. applied after UK close on Monday 29 March 2010).
