Further to the FTSE notice released on 13 January 2012, FTSE confirms that it will publish the ‘indicative’ actual free float numbers on the following dates:
FTSE 350 – Friday 30 March 2012
FTSE All-Share – Monday 30 April 2012
FTSE Fledgling – Friday 11 May 2012
The data will be made available to subscribing clients of the FTSE UK Index Series via PDF files.
Following initial publication the ‘indicative’ free float numbers may be revised up to and including 18 May 2012. The final ‘confirmed’ actual free float numbers will be published on 21 May 2012 at which point no further revisions will be made (other than as a direct result of corporate actions).
Any subsequent updates as a result of new information will be announced in line with the following quarterly review in September 2012 (subject to breaching the 3% buffer).
In order to ensure transparency, the annual liquidity test in June 2012 will be conducted using the existing ‘banded’ free float numbers (i.e. 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 75%, 100%) and not the proposed actual free float numbers which will be effected in FTSE indices on Monday 18 June 2012 (i.e. after market close Friday 15 June 2012).
Please Note: Actual free float numbers will only be used for indices of or derived from the FTSE UK Index Series. A constituent of the UK Series which is also a constituent of another series (e.g. FTSE Global Equity Index Series) (‘GEIS’) will be represented with differing free float methodology (i.e. existing banded free float in GEIS and new actual free float in the UK Series).
